Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.  I hope you and your family have had an enjoyable summer and that you are excited about beginning another school year.  The summer has been very busy and productive, and the staff is ready for another year of excellence!

Parents, in preparing for a new school year, please take time to think about the important role you play in helping your child have a successful school year.  I encourage you to partner with your child’s teacher to gather information on your child as a learner and to help ensure your child’s success this year.  A strong home-to-school partnership with frequent communication is of vital importance in building a meaningful instructional program for your child each year.  Before school starts, I recommend you begin talking with your child about preparing to return to school and the importance of getting off to a great start.  The beginning of school is the best time to set learning goals and high expectations for your student’s school work.

Attendance is a major priority at Arnold. Students are expected to be seated in their desks and ready to learn when the late bell rings at 7:45 AM. This enables all students and teachers to maximize school hours. Also, regular attendance is a priority…of course, if your student is ill, please keep the student at home. Please call the school office to inform us that your child will be absent and send an absence excuse with the student when he/she returns to school.

The dress code for the 2023-2024 school year is the same as last year. Shirt colors are blue (any shade), gold, yellow, or white.  The pants colors are blue, black or khaki.  Additional information will be posted on JW Arnold’s website.  If you have additional questions, please call the school.

Dismissal begins at 2:15 pm.  Students will not be allowed to checkout after 1:45 pm.  This becomes a safety issue when students are checked out close to dismissal time.     

Please join us for Meet Your Teacher on Monday, July 31st from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  Student class assignments will be posted on the front doors of the school at this time.  This is also a great time to see familiar and new faces, visit your child’s classroom, and pick up a wish list.

Please pay close attention to the dates below for the beginning of the school year.  I encourage each of you to attend your child’s Curriculum Night.  At that time, you will have the opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher, tour the new classroom, and hear what and how your child will learn this year.  Be prepared for an evening packed with important information!
